If you are a model, you may need something a little more exotic to catch
a good modeling agent's eye. You will need a resume and if you are new,
you may feel funny about not having much to put on it. Don't worry--everyone
starts out as a beginner. Your resume will build as you go along so
forget about what's not on your resume and go after something to put
on it.
Never go to an agent unless they are franchised by the Screen Actors
Guild. The Right Agent gives you all the legitimate agents that are
franchised by the Screen Actors Guild. Agents can't charge you anything
up front. They get 10% and that is only after you have been paid for
the work you have done. Always find your own photographer and workshop.
If an agent says you have to go to a certain photographer or workshop
before he or she will represent you, get up and walk away because this
is not legal.
Don't be so eager to get an agent that you forget what I am telling
you. If an agent believes in you, they will take you for your talent
and not because of how much you spend with a certain photographer or
workshop.
You can find all the legitimate workshops and legitimate photographers
in the Hollywood Career Services book listed on the catalog page. Good
luck and remember--don't let anyone take away your dream.
If you want a career in the entertainment business, don't let anything
or anyone make you feel like it's out of your reach. You'll never know
until you try.
"Do you cast for more than extra work?"
Yes, we have independent Casting Directors who do principal casting
for tv, films, commercials, and music videos.
"What if I'm a model, musician, dancer, or a voice over talent?"
We also do casting for print work, music videos and commercials. These
type of productions are always looking for musicians, dancers, and voice
over talent. We do not need your demos on file, but please let us know
if you have any special abilities when you register with us.
